From the 7th July 2022, we are finding out how adventurous our honeybee drones are through our island-wide community science experiment
We are hunting for the elusive 'Scilly bee', a subspecies of the moss carder bumblebee which hasn't been sighted in a decade
Scilly Bees is run by Wildflower Collective CIC, a not-for-profit with the aim of creating more wildflower habitats for people and pollinators. Wildflower Collective provide scientific advice, project development and communication activities with the Scillonian Bee Project who focus on sustainable bee-keeping on the Isles of Scilly. Together our dream is for the both wild and managed bees to thrive on the Isles of Scilly through sustainable beekeeping and conservation projects.
Wildflower Collective and the Scillonian Bee Project have teamed up with Pollenize CIC and Bee Craft magazine to launch a Game of Drones IoS, an island-wide citizen science project. This is in partnership with Bibba, the Five Islands Academy and St Mary's Boatmen Association.
